Six Osceola jail inmates arrested for making, hiding alcohol

 Six enterprising inmates at the Osceola County Jail were brewing homemade alcohol using fruit they hoarded and fermented within their cell walls, deputies said.


Inmates in corrections facilities across the United States often trade the homemade booze or "buck," as it is commonly known, for cash, drugs, cigarettes or favors.

Ohio Death Row Inmate on Suicide Watch After Overdose

COLUMBUS, Ohio —  Officials say an Ohio inmate who intentionally overdosed on pills hours before his scheduled execution has returned to prison and is on suicide watch.

Prisons spokeswoman Julie Walburn says 43-year-old Lawrence Reynolds Jr., who admitted taking an overdose of medication prescribed to him, arrived at the Ohio State Penitentiary in Youngstown shortly after noon on Tuesday.

A riot and attempted breakout at a juvenile detention center in southern Bogota on Tuesday left several people injured, including inmates, staff and police officers, reports Colombian media.

Deputy confirms San Augustine inmate kills self day after arrest

 SAN AUGUSTINE, TX (KTRE) - A 21-year-old woman hanged herself to death a day after being booked into the San Augustine County jail, a sheriff's office spokesman said Tuesday.

According to Chief Deputy Allen Cunningham, Sonya Sheffield was arrested Feb. 27 on an outstanding warrant in Anderson County on a charge of debit/credit card abuse.

Five dead in Mexico prison riot

CIUDAD JUAREZ: A clash between armed rival gangs in a Mexican jail left five inmates dead and 14 injured on Tuesday, authorities in northern Chihuahua state said.

Some 300 soldiers and police took several hours to control the unrest in the Aquiles Serdan state prison, said Gustavo Zabre, the state head of public security.

Trusty Unit Escapee Arrested In Missouri

 A missing prison inmate from the Yankton Trusty Unit has been captured in Missouri.

The Yankton County Sheriff’s Office received a report at 3:48 p.m. on Sunday of a prison inmate who had escaped from the Trusty Unit on the grounds of the Human Services Center.
